Luke Townsend, MD

Dr. Luke Townsend is a board-certified internal medicine physician. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, and completed his internal medicine residency at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

He then completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship training at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Townsend is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology. His research contributions include published work in the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology on early detection of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in cirrhotic patients, as well as presentations at ACG National Meetings addressing neurologic predictors in hepatic encephalopathy.
